Incognito in Paradiso

Monday July, 23, 2001 was finally there. Incognito played at Paradiso in Amsterdam and it would be the sixth time that I have seen them performing live. Even though I don't look like it, I am quite happy to be there.
I only looked forward to this concert for a couple of months, because I had the Incognito tickets way before I got the North Sea Jazz tickets.

As you can see my good friend Ronald was very excited too ...

With 8 of in total 12 concertgoers, we agreed to eat something beforehand in the Pizza Hut in the Marriott Hotel. Rob and Monique, Ursula and Jan Chris, Alex, Dennis and my silly self were in place at 1800 hours and we devoured the pizzas ordered. If you see it up close and personal, you start to asking questions, like:
... is the bathroom close enough?
... didn't I just see the chef coming out of there?
... do two little balls of Ben&Jerry's really cost 3.75 euri?!
... how much was the parking garage per hour again?
In short, looking forward the concert was probably more wholesome (no pun intended).

Peter, the 8th of the twelve, left Enschede a little too late, so when we started eating our pizzas he was on a train somewhere between Amersfoort and Amsterdam. In the end he arrived well before 2000 hours, so we could walk to Paradiso with the gang completed.
Just when we arrived there the doors opened and we read, much to our surprise, that the concert was Sold Out, although Rob thought that they just mentioned a Tower Of Power song.
After everybody became a member (as if anyone will go there within the month of duration of membership) we stepped onto holy ground. Quite litteraly actually, because Paradiso is an ex-church.
For some of us this lead to a moment of introspection. However good introspection might sound, introspection doesn't look too good ;-)

Others seemed to have found happiness ... ... but be honest, isn't that something that Incognito does to any human being in his right mind;-)

It goes without saying that we were one of the first in and it all looked kind of desolate.
We are looking at Rob's back and Jan Chris is staring past the camera at something that is undoubtedly much more interesting.
We are now awaiting Ronald and parts of his family-in-law: Erwin, Talitha and Daan.
On the next page you can read if they made it in time.
