Midsummer

The longest day of the year
followed by the shortest night.
This will force me to dream even more intense
about someone who's really close to me.
But for that I don't need the dark
of the night at all, because hearing
sweet sounds is enough to see you.
There is not much imagination necessary
to feel your soft skin against mine,
to sense your cool, rhythmic breathing
on my warm body.
Just the thought of that make the hairs
on my arms raise,
feigning goosebumps caused by emotions
and I picture myself in a tender embrace with you
in the delicate dawn of a slowly falling night.
A night without end, so we can always
be together, enjoying every
touch, exchanging glances as still moments of tenderness.
How much I would like to see that happen
I would also have to face the grim reality:
after today the days will be shorter and
the nights will be longer, which will cause my dreams
to take me farther away from me and therefor you.
Leaving me alone,
without an answer to the question why.
